We are happy to report that our first annual open barn was a resounding success! The day began with a deluge of rain (at around 6 a.m.) but then the skies cleared and we had gorgeous, sunny, warm weather all day. Approximately 200 guests joined us for a day filled with fun, education, and lots of smiles!

Tex, the tallest horse East of the Mississippi (and was the 2008 contender for the tallest living horse in the world & missing it by only 1/4"), greeted guests at the ranch entrance, as he pranced around the front pasture, cantering and strutting all around.

Balancing out Tex's great size were the miniature horses (owned by a neighboring farm). These darling little ones were as cute as could be and there were many giant smiles as parents snapped shots of their children patting these precious little animals.

Many folks were overheard admiring the ranch and property. A great way for them to see more of the area was to enjoy one of the hay rides, which took guests on a tour of the local neighborhood, including the beautiful lake which is only 1/4 mile from the ranch.

Education was a major part of the day, and guests crowded around the rail of the round pen for the round penning demonstration. The focus then moved to the riding arena, where trainer Kathrine Dow exhibited her dressage training skills, which are some of the best in the region.

Some wonderful local businesses were kind enough to offer door prizes for the day. These businesses include: Roberts Nursery, Pustizzi Farms, Trainer's Loft Tack Shop, Riverhill Market, L&M Horseworks, Pony Express. We are very excited to work with such great folks and very much appreciate their support of our event!
